The CEMCA
The CEMCA - UMIFRE N°16 comes under the control of the French Secretary of Foreign and European Affairs (MAEE) and of the French National Center of Scientific Research (CNRS). It is part of the French Research Institutes Abroad network. It works under the auspices of the French Embassy in the countries where it is established and coordinates its activities with their cultural, scientific and academic cooperation services.It relies on a Scientific Council, the MAEE American center which meets once a year in Paris, a Support Committee which gathers once a year in Mexico and an Editorial Committee. In Latin America, it works together with the French Institute of Andean Studies (IFEA). The Cemca is a founding member of the Institute of America (IDA).

The CEMCA unit in Central America
The CEMCA of Central America is a scientific platform for French specialists with research projects in Central America, as for American colleagues of Central America interested in French scientific production.The CEMCA of Central America also leads to the diffusion of knowledge and the improving of scientific cooperation in the isthmus by the organization of conferences, meetings, seminars, symposiums and congresses as well as thanks to researchers’ studies publications.
