An Efficient Algorithm for Solving Model Predictive Control of Switched Affine Systems

Résumé

Switched Affine Systems (SAS) involve control inputs of mixed nature. Thus Model Predictive Control (MPC) of SAS requires suitable algorithms to compute the optimal control inputs which are applied to the system at each time step. An efficient algorithm is developed in this paper which consists in finding a first suboptimum and applying a branch cutting strategy to prune the tree of switching possibilities. As a result, the size and the number of Quadratic Programming (QP) subproblems to solve is considerably reduced. The proposed algorithm is illustrated on voltage stability control of a small power system example.
